Florence in Montreal

A fireball in all senses of the word, Florence took over the stage and the audience at Centre Bell Wednesday night.
Red hair flying, legs racing, arms raised, Florence delivered a killer performance of both new and old favorites from her albums. Performing the likes of Shake It Out and Ship To Wreck, Florence embraced every part of the performance.
With Monsters of Men headlining the night, portraying a broody and dark vibe, Florence brought the light. In perfect contrast, Florence lit up the stage. In a pop of pink suit paired with a laissez-faire Londoner fringe, the gal rocked out the arena. Fairy, earth child, and fireball are the words that come to mind.
With an abundance of energy – as if possessed by the music – Florence would be twirling like a fairy one minute to head banging in the next. A queen of the night in all senses of the word, Florence commandeered the audience to silence during the peaks of her songs, as she fixed a pose and belted out the intricate melodies.
One of the highlights of the show came when a slower song came on, and the arena of an audience set their flashlight apps on. Little sparks of glowing white light lit up the audience like Christmas lights.

The next highlight of the show came when Florence spoke of the importance of being in the moment. The result? The entire audience stopped recording, cameras stopped flashing, and the crowd put away their phones for the entire song How Big, How Blue, How Beautiful.
The set closed as the lights went out, and the stage went black.
After a few long minutes of cheering and anticipation, the blackness of the stage was hit with a spot of white light. Ever angelic, Florence, her white shirt now filtered through the light, belted out into the darkness What Kind of Man.
The night came to an end as the lights faded from white to red, and Florence sang the classic Drumming Song. With arms outstretched towards the heavens, the encore was as dramatic a performance as the rest, crowning Florence star of the show.
